I love all animals, but have always had an extra special fondness for cats. My first experience came when our female cat had kittens in my bedroom closet. This was an incredible learning experience and it changed me and made me decide that I wanted to take care of animals as my career. The further into my career I got, the more I realized that cats are very misunderstood. I’ve spoken to so many people about behavior issues in their cats and even conducted home visits to see how individuals interact with their felines. I’ve learned there are a lot of myths and misinformation out there that I would like to correct. My mindset is to rule out any medical issues first and then will tackle any behavior issues. I make sure to get a thorough understanding of the issue at hand, which includes the house set up and individuals in the household and of course more detailed questions for specific issues.
My husband and I have three cats of our own. I have had geriatric cats to care for and also high energy young cats with aggression issues that I have handled. I’ve had a few cats with issues that we addressed both behaviorally and medically. I have done several cat introductions both in my personal and professional life. I have learned that all cats are individuals and have different needs and we need to adjust accordingly for a successful relationship.
